Mixed feelings about this one to be honest. He's a proven goalscorer at this level, but his form for Watford has been patchy to say the least, and their fans are pretty scathing about his attitude too, not helped by two breaches of the Covid rules last year. He is also on big money there, and I wonder what % of his wages we are committing to.

It smacks a bit of the kind of signing we were making under Hughes and Redknapp, but I suppose Warburton knows him and the management team have earned enough trust in the last couple of seasons to allow us to believe that they know what they're doing here.
Are headphones getting bigger, or are idiots getting smaller ?

A solitary claim that QPR are responsible for 25% of his Watford salary by a QPR fan are about as much as I can find out about that. It would tie in with the clubs salary limit, but just as easily be pure speculation.
It's not the despair that will kill you, it's the hope.

I've been saying similar, under previous managers i'd have thought this was us signing an over the hill billy big bollocks to boost egos / appease fans. However, i do trust what the club are doing now, that it's fiscally prudent; and as you say MW knows his character on the training ground and how he would fit into his system. It's no given he'll get the sort of goals he did at this level, but he hopefully still has his pace at least and if we can get a tune out of him, he'll be a huge bonus. If he's genuine when he says he knows he needs to get his career back on track then hopefully he'll be raring to go.

I wasn't aware of him breaking the covid protocols that's never a great sign although i guess Eze did and his character has never been an issue. The past tweets from Gray are still something i don't like the club being associated with. I'm not sure if he's done more than the standard apology.

He does appear to be a bit of a pratt but Warburton knows him, he appears to have been popular in the dressing room at his clubs, and I think we have enough of the sort of characters that won't stand for any nonsense. What he does have is pace, something we lack. So I'm hopeful he'll bring something to the party.

Agree with all the above. If anything, he gives us more depth than Kelman did and allows us to play in a different manner.

Hits a purple streak of goals and that season long loan isn't worth the paper it's written on.....

Kelman will hopefully get his chance and i'm glad to see he got a loan but i'd be more confident of Gray providing decent cover if needed and his pace is certainly something we lack amongst our out and out strikers so that gives us an added dimension.

I guess it depends on the terms. Even if Watford could end it early i think it would take a lot for them to want him back.

Good signing, gives us another dimension, a goal scorer, a runner and a physical target man……..

A nice mix I reckon

Nakhi when he hit his purple streak with us was sold for £?M during the January transfer window rather than going back to Burnley.... we kept Hugill as he had dropped off in goalscoring form...

We are in a different boat with having both Charlie and Lyndon on contract this season as he will have to up his game to get playing time between now and January
