I know what you mean, it has become one of those media terms that fans adopt like:

Tactical naivety
Lost the dressing-room
etc, without really knowing what they mean.

When I use the term "shot-stopper" I tend to mean a keeper who makes great saves from time to time, but isn't necessarily consistent re positioning and other aspects of their game.
I suppose a bit like the striker who scores an occasional screamer versus the one who gets a lot of tap-ins like a Lineker.

And sometimes have to make great-looking saves due to poor positioning, poor footwork and/or poor anticipation?

Like Lee Camp?

Lee Camp would be the most obvious example although looking at Forests recent run of form perhaps even being a great shot stopper has eluded him of late

Blimey I have just seen where Forest are. I haven't taken any notice of the Championship this season.

Onto Lee Camp I always thought he was overrated. Average.
