I know what you mean, it has become one of those media terms that fans adopt like:
Tactical naivety
Lost the dressing-room
etc, without really knowing what they mean.
When I use the term "shot-stopper" I tend to mean a keeper who makes great saves from time to time, but isn't necessarily consistent re positioning and other aspects of their game.
I suppose a bit like the striker who scores an occasional screamer versus the one who gets a lot of tap-ins like a Lineker. |

And sometimes have to make great-looking saves due to poor positioning, poor footwork and/or poor anticipation?
Like Lee Camp? |

Lee Camp would be the most obvious example although looking at Forests recent run of form perhaps even being a great shot stopper has eluded him of late _________________ Crying won't help you praying won't do you no good |

Blimey I have just seen where Forest are. I haven't taken any notice of the Championship this season.
Onto Lee Camp I always thought he was overrated. Average. _________________ "GOAL QPR!! Tommy Smith nets three minutes into stoppage time and the blue and white Premier League party has started!! Watford 0 QPR 2!!" |
