All of it is staged. The brawl reminds me of WWE, staged.

Nah, it's not all staged. Just some silly bits of the promotional side.

And if men didn't weren't instinctively driven to fight, women would be putting their candles and cushions in caves. Wink

In defence of the sport, none of this has anything to do with boxing, not even what took place in the ring.
Not boxing as in Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns and on and on...

Or Ali or Foreman or McGuigan or Watt or the boxers competing for Olympic places and medals and on and on .....

But professional sport IS so much about about the money (that's where the "professional" bit comes in).

Ali, great a boxer as he was, was the instigator of many unseemly confrontations at press conferences and television shows. He was a boxer who would openly goad opponents as a pre-fight tactic. He brawled with Frazier in 1974 on a live televised debate (World Wide Sports?).

A great exponent of the sport but I don't think he could ever be held up as the Olympian ideal.

I like David Price. I hope he doesn't get sucked in to all the clap-trap.

Price is a good friend of Bradley Orr.

the sad thing about it all was that Haye was coming across very well on the tv after the fight with his analysis and I was looking forward to his fight with Klitchsko. he is obviously frustrated that the manager is blocking the fight but he really made a prat of himself first trying to call out klitchsko and then biting when that no mark Chisora tried to make a name for himself. No doubt that Haye is going to face a very long ban for hitting him with a bottle.

A sad end for Haye, he was a fantastic cruiserweight but seemed to want to fast track himself to the heavyweight title rather than put the work and become a true great champion.

Obviously not all boxing does follow the Olympian ideal. The aim of pro boxing is to make money and, given the sacrifices boxers make before and during fights (and the health risks involved), I can't see any reasons for them not trying to maximise the revenue.

Chisora was shouting "He glassed me!! He glassed me, man!!" Reckoned he got hit with a bottle. Looked to me like he got a nice right hander right in the mush possibly followed by a tripodding. Thing is, shouting out "He tripodded me!! He tripodded me, man!!" doesn't have the same street cred ring to it, does it? Laughing

"My entourage is better than your entourage" (IE "My --- paid for --- gang is tougher than your gang"). How cringingly embarrassingly showbiz Razz

So which bit was not staged, which bit was silly promotional stuff and I assume what's left is embarrassing showbiz?
