Were relegated yesterday despite winning 1-0 away from home. I have fond memories of afternoons spent there when the R's weren't playing so it is a bit of a sad occasion. They have also provided us with 3 first team players over the years; Andy Impey, Lee Charles and Dudley Campbell yet the one who should have played for us just because of his name, Charlie Oatway, never did despite playing for a few professional sides including Brighton for many years.
Hopefully they will bounce back and settle in to their rebuilt stadium very soon.
Is their anyone on here who attended their match against the Spuds to christen their floodlights? I remember seeing quite a few hoops down there on the night.

Les played for Southall before joining Hayes and then the R's Chippy was at Yeading since his schoolboy days but moved to Chertsey for a couple of seasons before joining the R's

Hayes have been punching above their weight for 3 seasons really, staying in the Conference on average home support of 300 or less. Losing Haylock, leaving Church Road and playing the whole season at Woking while being part-time were always likely to drag them down this year. They'll be homeless until at least October, so next year might be a struggle too. A number of their fans are worried about the future of the club. A real shame.

Spud always seemed a dedicated sort of bloke for the 'Ding and I am sure he would love to see the team enter the league proper before moving on. Let's hope anyway. The new ground is coming along nicely too
