Just a thought . . . but could it happen?
1. Uncle Neil brought him in - now Uncle Neil can have him back.
2. If it were a season long loan, we get to halve his contract costs to, say, a mere 35K/week, and he can pretend he'll be back at QPR by the summer.
3. Leeds can probably afford him.
4. The history of their club and its cynical/loutish/violent midfielders over the years look like a match made in heaven for our Joey.
5. If NW comes calling for two or three of Hill, Kenny and Derry, well - in for a penny, in for a pound (and possibly a burnt eyeball, a knee in the back, or a few punches to the head outside a hamburger joint near you)!
As my other posts should make abundantly clear, in my view, Barton should be given his cards as soon as possible - not only for dragging the club's reputation through the mud and nearly getting us relegated all on his own (we stayed up, remember, in spite of our result at City, and not because of it), but bringing professional football into disrepute in at least three different ways. If the rest of the squad want to go on working with him after all he did and said this weekend (and MH and TF will surely have to look into that very carefully), they'll be stupider than I thought. Have some professional pride, guys, and help get this Scouse knobend out of our club! _________________ "There's a blue light/in my best friend's room" -Mazzy Star |

If, as was reported Warnock is looking at possibly signing El Hadj Diouf then Barton is almost a model professional by comparison.
Leeds are already disliked by a lot of supporters from other clubs so it wouldn't make much difference to them. |

You're right, I am, but maybe you're forgetting this is football - where 'normal' standards of behaviour don't apply! If Roy Keane could make it up with Mick McCarthy, Warnock and Barton could certainly do a deal.
To be honest, in the cold light of day, I think the best thing would be for Barton to just retire. I'm sure he could make a decent living giving Orwell-sprinkled after-dinner speeches, just as long as there was a good punch-up afterwards.
As I said before, though, the matter should be academic - the Club waits to see what the FA will do, it calls Barton and his agent in for a short and business-like meeting, circulates his name to other clubs, and tells him to train on his flipping own for however many months or years he's out for. If he's got a shred of pride, he'll work out some Vinnie Jones like payoff on his contract (the ex-QPR player he most resembles) and get out of town. _________________ "There's a blue light/in my best friend's room" -Mazzy Star |

Also forgetting his current 80k a week wages - not sure Championship sides will be rushing to pay that.......unless you're West Ham. _________________

I could still see him going to Everton to replace Fellaini - if he leaves... Although we could just sack him - seeing as there wasn't a massive transfer fee. _________________ Nutmegs, I prefer. |

Just to be slightly quarrelsome, news of us going in front at the Etihad (and staying in front until so late on) must have filtered through to Bolton's fans and players and thus had some effect on them for the last half hour (a period during which they conceded an equaliser and failed to score themselves). So while you are obviously correct in saying the result at City didn't help us points-wise, I'd suggest the performance did. Or possibly did |
