The championship season starts on the same day as the premier league, includes 8 more games, and finishes 2 weeks earlier. And yet we never stop hearing people complaining about playing too many games. Diddums. I hope Rangers never moan about that.
When will these prima donnas realise that they don't have it any tougher than anyone else? And if these clubs want to be able to crow about winning more than one trophy a season then they need to recognise it's a difficult thing to do, and requires playing a lot of games to a high standard. So they can stop bloody whinging about it. _________________

Ah, wandered what you were banging on about in the other thread...
To be fair - in terms of playing more games it's the bigger clubs who often complain / get knackered etc.
Add in the European games and extended cup run and they play a shitload of games.
A cup run is not what we specialise in so we've never needed to complain about this. |

But when you say a shitload of games, it's all relative.
They're hardly overworked compared to other sportsmen, tennis for example, play for 3-4 hours and then play again a couple of days later, and are involved all the time, unlike footballers.
2 games a week is hardly overdoing it. |

But those bigger clubs go on about how amazing they are when they win 2-3 trophies in a season. That takes WORK and means playing lots of games. So they have no reason to whinge about playing all those games. If the clubs wanted to, they spread their transfer budgets across more players and rotate them more of course. That of course would also negate the huge wages that more than justify the extra games that the big stars have to play with their poor tired little legs. _________________

Erm, in tennis it's obviously a completely different type of running. A lot of stop start runs and sprints with breaks to wipe your face with a towel, and then a wee sit down after every three games.
Football is an average of 10km running over 90 minutes, plus a lot more impact injuries. At the top level, the most tiring bit is not the running, but rather the stress on the back and knees from the jumping, and change of direction. Something like that anyway.
I love tennis, but it's not really comparable - not that 5 set matches with the likes of Nadal and Murray aren't ridiculously grueling.
The big problem in football is the fact that it still appears to be massively behind the times in terms of sport science. Not sure if he's right, but that Raymond Verheijen has some interesting ideas regarding how training should be done - think he worked with Hughes at City? |

The 25 man sqaud rather ruins that plan. _________________ "I wish you would make up your mind, Mr Dickens. Was it the best of times or was it the worst of times? It could scarcely have been both" |

Not really. They can have a separate 25 man squad for the European competitions and non-25 players are allowed in the domestic cups too. _________________

Championship doesn't normally start the same time as PL does it? Is that because of the Olympics? _________________ 'Live every week like it is shark week' |
