Just picked this up from QPR Report. Interview done yesterday with Adel.

Quote:
Passing the Olympic Village Club, organized as part of Follow the Green Stars, to meet young people on Saturday in Casablanca, Adel Taarabt has agreed to reverse its season with the Queen Park Rangers and its differences with the national coach, Eric Gerets. In view of his misconduct in the national team, he is the bad boy of football is being described?

Adel Taarabt is explained in our columns. What's your analysis of your Premier League season with Queen Park Rangers (QPR)?It was very bad start. Later we changed coaches when I returned from the African Cup. I felt better with Mark Hughes (QPR coach, ed.)

It remained in the Premier League on the final day, it was the objective of the club. It was therefore a good season when I scored two beautiful goals against Tottenham and Arsenal.
As I was not happy with my start to the season, as I'm glad the end.In the offseason, there was much talk of a probable transfer of Taarabt. Currently, we are in full summer transfer window, do you stay at QPR or are you starting on?A priori, no. I have one year contract. We are in the midst of negotiations for a new lease. The club wants to keep me for a very long project. Normally, the next year, I see the Queen Park Rangers. And you intend to extend your contract for how many years?

This will depend on negotiations, but if I sign, it will be between 3 and 4 years. After a good season at QPR, what are your goals for the rest of your career?Simply, I have a good time to catch the big clubs at the end of next season. And it is not only to sign a big club but to succeed to play in these big clubs. What big clubs do you target?I want to play in the Top 4 (Big 4, note) or the Top 5.
Now, at QPR, I think the goal is to finish in the top 10. What will be a very good season for us. So my goal is to play a good season at a club like QPR where I can play every game.Recently on Radio in March, you wanted to return to the national team to play for your country and not for Gerets, but do you think of this being done while he is high on the national team, given your differences?
No, I did not say I wanted to play for my team but not for Gerets. It is true that if I decided to come back is that I am Moroccan. I am here to defend my colors. It's true that sometimes I talk to hot and I say things I regret later, but I know that my country needs me and if you called me, I will answer this. You had a problem with Gerets before the match against Algeria in the CAN, you left the group.
After the CAN, your media outlets have not been kind towards Gerets, do not you think it's your behavior that began your career in the national team? No, it's not that. It is true that I have hot blood. I love to play and when I do not play, I am very disappointed.
Now, I admit that these are errors. I am young. The first time it's true that I made a mistake by leaving the group the day before the match against Algeria but during the African Cup, I was professional to the end. After I made a statement saying I was not happy that the coach does not make me have to play.
But there is no problem at my level. It is true that people have an image of me the "bad boy" of Morocco's Balotelli, but actually no, I'm not. I am a very nice guy who loves his country. I realize that every time I come to Morocco, people tell me: you have you back, you play for Morocco and not for the coach. This is for me to give back to those people who believe in me and are disappointed not to see me evolve with Morocco.

Well after trying to decipher that, I get that he's happy to stay at QPR for the season. Next season (provided he plays well of course) he may end up at a larger club. Good news for the moment I guess Smile

Sounds like good news. We should sign him up for a few years because at least then if he has a good season and big clubs come knocking we'll be duly compensated.

here we go. This should make more sense now!

Normalement, l’année prochaine, on me verra au Queen Park Rangers.

So in a nutshell.
Trying to tie up a deal with us but looking for a move to a big club in the not too distant.

Nothing wrong with that, gives us scope to make a few bob if and when the big clubs come calling and if they do it means he's had a good season with us.

I agree with you BetaCam.

This is definitely a very positive article. The sooner we have Taarabt tied down to a longer contract the better, it's encouraging that he wants to stay here.

It's also interesting to note that he wants to play regularly for one of the top 4. Signing for them will not be enough.

Which of the top 4 are going to put that much faith & confidence in him? From watching his interview a few weeks ago on QPR Player, Taarabt stated he's been given free reign to express himself on the pitch by Hughes. He needs that or you lose everything that makes him so special.

Would Fergie, Wenger, Mancini give him that? I can't see it...

Either way, he seems to have bought into what QPR are trying to do, which is fantastic news.

I hope we tie him to a new 3 or 4 year contract and I hope Hughes gives him the #10 shift this season. Bothroyd did nothing to have that honour.

This is a great interview/post. I love the fact that Tarrabt has a big ambition because he will have to play seriously well for us to fulfill it. If he doesn't sign a new deal with us, then he will have to achieve that in one season, which I think is asking a lot. Currently he has not done nearly enough at the top level to warrant interest in a real top club.

For me , the sensible thing for him to do is sign a 3 or 4yr deal with us, play out of his skin and then he will get his wish in 18mnths to 2yrs.

That way everyone wins, he will be at his big club and we will have a large pay-out, but probably having to give some to Spurs.

If the worst comes to the worst then we will have to become a top 4 club. Cool
