|

I appreciate he is just saying that he will play wherever he's needed, but I would be amazed if Hughes feels the need to play him on the wing.
He's the best finisher we have.
| Quote: | Djibril Cisse insists he is happy to relinquish his centre-forward role this season if it helps QPR to avoid another brush with relegation.
Cisse scored six goals in eight games after joining the Rs from Lazio in January, strikes which were crucial in keeping QPR in the Premier League.
However, manager Mark Hughes has since bolstered his attacking options in an attempt to avoid a second season of struggle.
Hughes has signed former Fulham striker Andy Johnson, while forward Junior Hoilett was snapped up from Blackburn Rovers last week.
That could see Cisse restricted to playing a wide role – a position he became familiar with at Liverpool earlier in his career and occupied for Rangers at Chelsea last season – and the 30-year-old says he is ready to deliver wherever he plays.
“Up front is my position but I am happy to play anywhere,” Cisse told London24.com. “My main position is up front but it’s about what the manager asks me to do and I’m happy to play elsewhere if it helps the team.
“There’s good competition in the side, all the players we have signed are really good quality. As a striker you know you are going to have difficult moments and you can’t play all the time.” |

Whilst its the old "square pegs, round holes", it would facilitate, arguably, our best players to be on the pitch at the same time. Front six:
---------------Zamora
Cisse---------Taarabt-------Hoilett / Park / SWP
-------Diakite----------Park / Faurlin
Cisse was played out wide last season (ineffectively, I thought), so I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen. Everyone seems to think BZ will be dropped to the bench but I personally can't see that happening, hence Cisse will either be partnered with him in a 4-4-2 or will be on the wing in a 4-5-1 / 4-2-3-1 formation... |

I hope this isn't a real scenario. We need Cisse playing through the middle where his pace can hurt teams more. Personally I'd get him up there before Zamora even if it means the ball does come back a bit more. He's the ideal option to run onto Taraabt's through balls.
On that note I don't think we'll sign anyone now until the last week in August (and if we do they might not be ready for Swansea) so I believe we will go into the game with:
Green (GK)
Fabio (RB)
Traore (LB)
Onuoha (CB)
Ferdinand (CB)
SWP (RM)
Diakite (CM)
Park (CM)
Taraabt (LM)
Zamora (F)
Cisse (F)
Subs: Cerny, Ehmer, Hill, Derry, Mackie, Hoilett, Johnson

I seem to remember him starting on the left at Chelsea last year and despite the fact that there was obvious disappointments all round in that game, he didn't look very good there. _________________ 'Live every week like it is shark week' |

I'm thinking we will, at times, play 4-5-1 (or a 4-4-1-1 with AT or SW-P in the hole) or a classic 4-4-2 with two from three of Cisse, Zamora and Johnson starting (and the non-starter probably getting on at some stage).
MH has said he wants options to play different systems but, since he took over, those two ways have been (even in the friendlies --- and even in the same matches) the way he had the team playing. |

Late in the second half he was switched back into the centre up top and would you believe it, he scores.
Don't play him wide. _________________ I KNOW IAM, I'M SURE I AM, I'M RANGERS 'TILL I DIE! |

Would be a complate and utter waste. When he did play wide last season it was on the left, well we now have Hoilett there. _________________ All or nothing! |

Seem to recall he started out wide left during our best forgotten failure at the Scum - noticeably couldn't be arsed it seemed to me, but his attitude changed when the line up was altered and he moved inside. _________________

Why would you play someone wide who scores regularly when he plays upfront? Surely MH will realise that.
Zamora is hardly prolific, so he's not going to fill the gap, Hoilett plays on the wing anyway so his signing doesn't change Cisse's position and Johnson I would have thought is more likely to play down the right than Cisse. More page filling by someone again. |

He's a centre forward and no mistake. Needs to be given the freedom to do what he does best.
Adel just in behind him, Zamora on the bench for the much beloved 'Plan B'. Andy Johnson to replace him in the 83rd minute and for the Carling Cup. _________________ "I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality" - Martin Luther King, Jr. |
