Tonight’s game sums up the season, started with great promise and then fell apart.
Exactly, we are a genuine Jeckyll and Hyde team.
Next season is going to be an enormous challenge. At the moment we must be seen by most as genuine relegation candidates. Let us hope that a new manager and new players can put a new spring in our step.
Not even Jekyll & Hyde, we looked like a league 1 side up against a Championship team.
We are the worse team in the division and the decline since January has been shocking.
Any new manager has a massive job with that lot, even Guardiola couldn't turn them around.

I don't think any of us are surprised with this result tbh. Where has all the energy gone from this side.? We were never out of a game, now, we're never in it. I just don't recognise this team, who are they.? I've seen blips in form, but nothing like this. This season has become a real kick in the nuts.

I'm confused. Why are we playing Field at CB when he's never really played there and we have Dom Ball on the bench who has.
Warburton hasn’t fancied Dom Ball all season has he, should have been considered when the wheels started coming off.
Possibly one of the reasons why he has lost his job.

We've been poor lately but given 'that lot' have been in the top 6 for a big chunk of the season, perhaps some perspective is needed?

Warburton brought Ball to the club, gave him a two year contract, and then extended it for a third year, so I do struggle with the idea that he’s not been picked because the manager has some kind of grudge against him. Field will be here next season, Ball probably won’t, so playing the former in what for us was a meaningless game makes sense to me.

Yes, indeed. Ball hasn't played because there are better players ahead of him. He was clearly retained as cover. The idea this has contributed to Warburton's contract not being renewed is ridiculous. All football squads contain players who regularly don't make the matchday squad.

I am the first person to laugh when fans start championing the players that aren’t playing. I am not talking about last nights game but our 2022 form. I am not saying that Dom Ball is a better player than Sam Field or Andre Dozzell.

Different players bring different skill sets to the table and in my opinion there has been times this year when bringing Dom Ball on during a game MIGHT have helped us when the opposition were dominating us, overrunning us in midfield.

How many times has Sam Field been booked for pulling a player back? Andre Dozzell has been booked several times for the offence. Sometimes it’s better having a player booked for standing his ground or leaving his foot in, really letting the opposition players know you are there rather than pulling them back after they have beaten you. Experience and football savvy.

When our season started to collapse age and experience should have been considered more. How long did it take Mark Warburton to give Albert plenty of game time? Austin left warming the bench whilst Dykes played. Austin showed last night what a good, experienced striker should do.

I know this is all if’s, but’s and maybe’s but I don’t think Mark Warburton has helped himself this season. His obsession with the sports scientists, planning to substitute players at a certain time before the game even starts, resting players, well hello Mark we still ended up with too many players out injured!

Really I do like Mark Warburton and thought him and John Eustace were good for our club but I can understand why the club owners have decided to make a change.

I know we have 4 key players missing but the precipitous decline has been alarming.

I say "that lot" because it was a very difficult watch yesterday at HQ, our "midfield"
were at KFC stuffing themselves and that's happened way too often recently.

The elephant in the room is money, that lot down the King's Road seem to have a consortium emerging every day,
pity we can't find a competent/minted group to step in but not be profligate with cash nevertheless.

Having money to spend makes little difference in The Championship with the Profit and Sustainability regulations. However Brentford have really showed us what can be achieved with good management and a decent scouting team.

In this respect we really have a lot of catching up to do but better that than some creative accounting which eventually brings you misery, docked points and a free pass in to League One.
