I voted for Thatcher, and am not ashamed to say it, and here is why...
| Hud wrote: | | the original question was simply "Who is your favourite PM" and of course, this is clearly a subjective and personal opinion |
Favourite: not best; not least worstest; not most horriblest. Favourite: and you are right, Hud, that is subjective.
I was born in 1970 and to be honest do not have any memories of politics prior to Maggie. As a 9 year old, I was rather shallow; therefore my choice of favourite is limited to two from each side, Maggie and John in the Blue corner against Tony and Gordon in the Red corner.
I don't mind saying that of those four, I'd go for Maggie every time as my personal favourite, as my memories of John Major are clouded with Spitting Image (I couldn't tell him apart from his puppet) and frankly I wouldn't pi55 on Blair if he were on fire (although I might consider it if he were not !) Gordon hasn't had much time as yet, so I'll be kind to him and say that it is too early to judge his tenure for the moment. That said, I'm not confident!
And I see Maggie is back in the lead! Hoorah!!![/i] |

The link you've posted does not disprove what I have stated. OPEC WAS the main reason. Economists agree. It takes between 1 - 2 years for inflation to work its way into the figures. However that said. Both Heath and Wilson did not help matters with an inflationary wage policy. _________________ Serfs ye were and serfs ye shall remain.....until Doomsday.......Richard II, 1381) |

I can't actually bring myself to vote for anyone. I was born into the Thatcher era and everyone since, while nowhere near as evil has been shit, apart from Brown who hasn't been around enough to do much damage yet, but it'd be silly to vote for him just because he hasn't pissed me off yet. _________________

agree John Smith may have succeeded in not ruining the Labour Party, which Blair and Brown have managed to do. |

He's done plenty of damage as Chancellor for 10 years. More than Blair in my opinion. _________________ Serfs ye were and serfs ye shall remain.....until Doomsday.......Richard II, 1381) |

Is that the same John Smith who lost Labour an election with his 'shadow budget'? Labour would have sunk further into the elctoral abyss if he'd stayed. _________________ I'm Ray Gardner. I drink Blackcurrant Tango. Come and get me! |

Goodness cant believe that Thatcher leads.
She shaped and formed my poitics and frankly I remeber picketing in both the Miners Strike and at Wapping and I will never forgive the woman .
Shaped my then politics from LPYS to Militant and left the labour party once they got rid of Clause IV .
Probably need HUd to set up his own party !!
How times have changed as I now sit living in the modern bastion of capitalism |
