Little more back bone needed on this board!
Good thing it's not 1939 as i wouldn't fancy our chances with you lot as my fellow conscipts.
Look on the bright side we're 5th from bottom, at home next week.
We also have a fair few new players and a new manager who all need to get used to their game.
Blackburn were lucky today 1st goal route 1 hooooof! and third was a deflection, if the game had been 20 minutes longer we would have won. _________________ Crying won't help you praying won't do you no good |

| If you really think Blackburn won because 'they were lucky' then you're even more deluded than I thought you were |

Have you seen our run-in? Hughes was brought in by Fernandes in order to beat the likes of Wolves and Blackburn. There were extenuating circumstances last week but that first half performance was a disgrace.
It took him an hour to play with two strikers against one of the worst teams in the division, a side without a clean sheet since April 2011.....and by then we were 3-0 down. He played Taiwo for no other reason than he's in his agent's pocket. We are f*cked as Churchill would say. |

We didn't have a tackler throughout the midfield, and an injury list of strikers as long as a Blackburn through ball. I thought one upfront was a solid choice with which to start, and once you've been shocktrooped by three goals it's a case of seeing how the team can recover, whether you push on or avoid total collapse. When he saw that we might make a fist of it he brought on Mackie to good effect. Reasonable stuff, I thought. _________________ Twutter |

But that's the point. I was critical of Warnock because he kept playing 4-5-1. Our defence is simply not good enough to play 4-5-1. And when even the chairman can see that, it does make one wonder about Mark Hughes' alleged tactical nous. |

How does switching from 4-5-1 to 4-4-2 help the defence? |

It means you've got more chance of scoring the three goals you need to earn a point. 4-5-1 is fantastic if you've got a decent defence and can nick three points with one goal.
Our defence makes the Maginot Line look solid. |

On that basis wouldn't we be better off playing 10 attackers and a goalkeeper? |

Interesting logic and I can see where you're coming from. For me 4-4-2 would have been suicidal given our options in central midfield, better to pack the middle and hope Buzz and Tarbs can get their bodies in the way and make a couple of tackles to compensate for our lack of bite. You then have a lot of creativity going forward, which is where I think you're wrong in assuming 4-5-1 is inherently suited to a defensive side playing negatively - we tried a flexible version which gave us strong attacking options. That said you're right that the gamble didn't pay off, asking Tarbs to tackle is seriously makeshift stuff. I still think however, in light of not being able to field a 4-4-2, it was the right formation. _________________ Twutter |

Paul Merson said on SSN we were by far the better team box to box and in fact said we were outstanding.
Sorry folks but we're still going to be OK even if some of you seem to want otherwise. _________________ Crying won't help you praying won't do you no good |
