Thank you in advance for reading this.
SAVE THE POPPIES
Kettering Town FC (the Poppies) was formed in 1872. We are a proud member of the Blue Square Premier and are one of the most successful and famous non league sides, well known for our giant killing exploits in the FA Cup. Kettering Town are actually the leading FA Cup goal scorers in history, had the first sponsorship upon our shirts and the first team to have their initials in their floodlights.
We have been managed by Tommy Lawton, Ron Atkinson, Derek Dougan, Gary Johnson, Carl Shutt, Paul Gascoigne and Mark Cooper.
England International, Jack Froggatt was both a Kettering player and manager. Dave Watson, another England International played for us. Keith Alexander, Richard Butcher, Zema Abbey, Cohen Griffith and Billy Kellock are other notable players who have featured for us.
This club now needs to raise £40,000 by the end of February otherwise it could cease to exist. Imagine your club being in this position, imagine having no football to watch on a Saturday. We are obviously desperate for our club to survive. This club cannot be allowed to die.
Please help the Poppies to stay in bloom.
Donations are welcome via Paypal using the address savektfc@poppiestrust.co.uk, or by cheque made payable to Kettering Town (Poppies) Supporters Trust, to PO Box 6492, Kettering, NN16 0YT.

In view of our own recent history, I wish you well and hope you're team continues to exist.
However, just like us a few years back, I believe it's for your fans/people of Kettering to rally to save your club, not fans of other clubs. I hasten to add, I didn't expect fans of other clubs to save QPR after we got ourselves into a right pickle.
Kettering has over 91,000 people about 60% of whom, are of working age. As of 2009, the local council figures stated that the average weekly wage of Ketteringites was 411.80GBP.
It therefore seems to me, that if Kettering FC are going to survive, then salvation lies within.
I am sure some fans from other clubs will support your efforts and as I say, good luck to you. _________________ Thrill-R in Manila! |

Thanks for the good luck messages. Obviously, we are attempting to save the club from within. Posting on other teams forums is by no means our main way of raising money for the club- but every donation helps. It is also an attempt to raise awareness of our plight as well. |

Have you tried asking Joey Barton for half his wages from the Blackburn match as he only earned half that day. Akos should donate his entire match fee too, more than enough to save your club. _________________ It's not the despair that will kill you, it's the hope. |

Dear Mr Thepoppies,
There will be fifty or so fulham fans in the Hop Poles near Hammersmith Broadway on Saturday. They understand suffering so it would probably be a good place to visit with a collecting bucket. |

Since moving the Kettering over a decade ago they've been a terrific second team to follow, and sometimes the perfect antidote to the emotional turmoil QPR usually put me through! It's remarkable to see how quickly things can turn against you in football (financial mismanagement etc), so sad to have a club with 140 years of history's existence thrown into question seemingly overnight. Don't worry John, the people of the town are rallying behind the club but these things are about awareness as much as anything else.
Don't forget, Rangers were only perhaps a dwarf and orange away from a similar fate a few years back. A fraction of Ranger's current weekly wage bill would save this great club from potentially disappearing altogether! _________________ @C1882 |
