Just pondering this future season and perhaps the one after.....
Have to say Premiership Football in terms of projected winners of The League have looked somewhat boring in recent years. The same clutch of clubs winning ( Man City / Man U / Liverpool / Arsenal / Chelsea etc ) but as we move forward this looks like changing perhaps.
I see Newcastle as a possible threat, if only to take points off the top 4 or 5 major teams. Tottenham may have enough about them too. Man U's ability and capacity looks to be waning. At some point The Scottish Whinger has to retire and their midfield options look decidedly weaker then previous years. Retaining Scholes and The Welsh Trouser Dropper seems a little futile, we'll see.
I can't see Liverpool staying the course and with the rumored arrival of Bendtnar - well says it all really, even to be linked with such a player.
Having said that, quite how we get the monkey off our back that is Mr B, well who knows but suspect he'll be gone.
All of which points to a stronger spread of capability within the league itself. Teams like Rangers will perhaps have a potency which can make a real mark in the race, either by regularly beating "top 5 teams" or simply causing an upset more regularly.
Leading on from that there may yet be a way Rangers could mount a serious threat to a title challenge. Much of this will be about management retention.
When "Greavsie" said "its a funny old game" he wasn't far wrong.
Was I the only one who thought if we went down Mr Hughes would perhaps be on his way, either by choice or sacked.? Having kept us up we now find we have a asset which we'd cherish and like to keep as he builds our club. Trouble is if he does too good a job "bigger" clubs will come a knockin. Of all the bigger clubs Liverpool have perhaps a similar prospectus of work / rebuilding as ourselves and I suspect Hughes will make a better job of it.
I guess its all of these elements that goes to make football so enthralling. There's never a sure fire win or loss against a team at the top or the bottom.
If we can secure some 4 or 5 players of recent "Hughes Quality" then I can see us being a real force. From current positions within The Premiership for 2012 /13 season I'd see Norwich, WBA, Stoke, West Ham Reading and Southampton all struggle - if we can distance ourselves from these teams who knows.
You RRRrrrssss etc etc _________________ "Fing Poo Wah" ( your comments are as much interest to me as a dogs fart ). |

| You should never under estimate Fergie and Manchester United. Sure their squad looks a little weaker than recent years but only the Manchester City squad is stronger. |

Have Liverpool ever won the Premiership? I'm not sure they have...... _________________ If you're ever lucky enough to slay a dragon, never go back to check if it's really dead. |

I'll predict right now ... Next season's Premiership champions will come from Manchester!
It's not a hard one to call, there was a massive gap from United to Arsenal in third place - NINETEEN POINTS!
That gap isn't going to close any time soon.
I think we'll be comfortable in mid table, and I doubt there will be any of the dramas of our first season back in the Premiership. _________________ Saturday 9th November 1968: QPR V Burnley in the First Division - I saw the Hoops for the first time and my obsession began!

Well at least it isn't like La Liga where it's totally dominated by Real Madrid and Barcelona. _________________ If Chelsea were playing in my garden, I would close the curtains!
