PETALING JAYA: Super League champions Kelantan will field all seven of their foreign players for the high profile friendly against visiting English Premier League side Queens Park Rangers at the Shah Alam Stadium tonight (9.15pm).
Team manager Azman Ibrahim said the Kelantan fans would be in for a treat as they would see the seven, including the five registerd for the AFC Cup quarter-finals against Arbil FC of Iraq in September, in action together for the first time.
Kelantan’s top scorer Mohd Ghaddar Mahmoud (Lebanon) and centre-back Obinne Nwaneri (Nigeria) are the two registered for the M-League while the others are Dennis Antwi (Ghana), Zachariah Charara (Lebanon), Emmanuel Okine (Ghana), Keita Mandjou (Guinea) and Mijo Dadic (Croatia).
“We will make full use of our resources as we want the match to be an entertaining one for the fans,” said Azman from Kota Baru yesterday.
Newly-married Mohd Ghaddar is back after tying the knot in Lebanon last week while latest signing — Keita Mandjou, a Golden Boot winner with Perak in 2006 — will add more bite upfront.
Kelantan, who have already won the double — the FA Cup and Super League — will be gunning for their third silverware, the Malaysia Cup, when the competition kicks off next month.
QPR manager Mark Hughes is expected to once again put to test all their six new players, including former Manchester United star Park Ji-sung. The others are Andy Johnson, Ryan Nelsen, Samba Diakite, goalkeeper Robert Green and the young Fabio da Silva, who is on loan from United.
On Tuesday, QPR, who are on a pre-season tour of the Far East, strolled to a 5-0 win over a Sabah Selection at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu with Djibril Cisse scoring a brace.
QPR will wrap up their tour with a match against Indonesia’s Persebaya Surabaya at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya on Monday.
